Emergency Response Planning

A message from Frontline Benefits

Rest assured, we are at work and prepared to support you. We are committed to providing you with the most up to date information on this web page, and you can expect that it will be updated regularly.

Benefits are a necessary part of Pandemic Planning, whether that's for travel insurance (those who have been impacted while away), short term disability claims, or the resulting health and pharmacy claims which will flow in due to COVID-19.

As you can appreciate, there are more questions than answers at this time. We are working diligently with the insurance providers to promptly get you the information you need. Please keep checking back to this page for new information.

Wishing you security, health and happiness from the Frontline Family.

Do you have a Business Continuity Plan in place to respond in the event of a Pandemic?

"...a plan that describes how your organization will continue to function during or after some kind of emergency, disaster or event. It involves planning how your key services or products can be continued, and the recovery of key business and systems." ~ CCOHS  link to pdf

Are you a small-medium sized business that is at risk of an immediate decline in business of 10% or more?
Work-Sharing is an Employment Insurance (EI) program that helps employers and employees avoid layoffs when there is a temporary decrease in business activity beyond the control of the employer. The program provides EI benefits to eligible employees who agree to reduce their normal working hours and share the available work while their employer recovers.  resource link

FAQs:

Q. For any firms required to temporarily lay off staff, can they maintain full benefits for those staff? What is the recommended process?

A. During a leave or lay off, an employer can continue to offer the coverage held by the individual on a premium-paying basis with the exception of Long Term Disability, Weekly Indemnity and Critical Illness* coverage. In order for insurance to continue, we must be notified before the leave starts and provided with a scheduled return to work date. The continuation cannot exceed six months.
* If the leave or layoff is 4 months or less, Critical Illness coverage can be continued on a premium-paying basis."
